Evaluation Question 4 - 'How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?'

In this slideshare presentation I have showed many of the media technologies that I have used to create my coursework. There were many different websites and equipment that were used, many of which presented my work in different ways for the audience. There are many positives and negatives that come with using media technology.
Many can be easy to use, and since lots of people use cameras/websites, it is easy to find tutorials on the internet. However, if for some reason you cannot get access to the internet, it is near impossible to do your work since it relies so heavily on the internet. People who own Apple Macs are at an advantage when it comes to editing, since they will have iMovie, therefore people who don't are limited to school or somewhere that has one. This means they may have less time to edit, due to the lack of availability.
Web 2.0 allowed me to post my work on social websites so I could gain valuable feedback, while blogger and other websites such as prezi allowed me to easily apply these improvements and repost them.

Evaluation Question 3 - 'What have you learned form your audience feedback?'

The audience of your particular creation is the key to improvement and success. Without their help, it will be very hard to make changes that will appeal. Therefore when I started producing my film and  ancillaries, I showed them to my audience throughout the production process, to I could continuously add the changes that need to be put in, until my work came to a final state. My first stage in looking at appealing work was to have a look at existing products and deconstruct them, and find out which parts about them that the target audience enjoy; which parts draw them in.

I created this poll and added it to the side of my blog, so people could vote which horror movies they prefer. This really helped my work, as this audience input allowed me look at the movies they like best, and find out why. No one voted for 'other' which shows the few movies I selected as an optional answer are ones that fans enjoy, so I already had a correct idea on how to approach filming.

Here, my peers are watching my short film, in order to give me feedback afterwards:

This really helped me out, as it allowed me to make changes to my short film that I knew were going to have a positive impact on it, rather than just guessing. After completing my full film, I was able to improve it to the best it could be after these changes that I wrote down were made.

This is the feedback I received, which I wrote down on a piece of paper. I was then able to take this with me to where I edit my work and add the improvements in, making my horror short film more appealing. A lot of the changes included adding or altering the sound effects in certain parts of my film, for example making the door squeak louder, and altering the length of some of the shots.

One of the greatest pieces of audience feedback that I received was from a group of Year 9 students, who looked at my initial front cover.

Before

The reason that the most important change I made was to my front cover was because I added a whole new picture. Judging from my feedback, it was too difficult to work out what was happening in the picture. The Year 9's couldn't work out that this the murderer (the antagonist) in the centre of the front cover, for example they suggested it could be someone hiding. Therefore I took a new picture, added the same effect and made it into this:

 After

This image gives off a lot more of the correct connotations about my film, as you can immediately tell this is the antagonist by the fact he is aiming his glance and knife toward the camera. This is why I chose this piece of work to be my final choice, rather than the cover with the previous picture.
