I created this poll and added it to the side of my blog, so people could vote which horror movies they prefer. This really helped my work, as this audience input allowed me look at the movies they like best, and find out why. No one voted for 'other' which shows the few movies I selected as an optional answer are ones that fans enjoy, so I already had a correct idea on how to approach filming.
Here, my peers are watching my short film, in order to give me feedback afterwards:
This really helped me out, as it allowed me to make changes to my short film that I knew were going to have a positive impact on it, rather than just guessing. After completing my full film, I was able to improve it to the best it could be after these changes that I wrote down were made.
This is the feedback I received, which I wrote down on a piece of paper. I was then able to take this with me to where I edit my work and add the improvements in, making my horror short film more appealing. A lot of the changes included adding or altering the sound effects in certain parts of my film, for example making the door squeak louder, and altering the length of some of the shots.
One of the greatest pieces of audience feedback that I received was from a group of Year 9 students, who looked at my initial front cover.
The reason that the most important change I made was to my front cover was because I added a whole new picture. Judging from my feedback, it was too difficult to work out what was happening in the picture. The Year 9's couldn't work out that this the murderer (the antagonist) in the centre of the front cover, for example they suggested it could be someone hiding. Therefore I took a new picture, added the same effect and made it into this:
This image gives off a lot more of the correct connotations about my film, as you can immediately tell this is the antagonist by the fact he is aiming his glance and knife toward the camera. This is why I chose this piece of work to be my final choice, rather than the cover with the previous picture.
